First meeting of Dunedin/Mosgiel DNA Support Group

First meeting of Dunedin/Mosgiel DNA Support Group

As so many of you have bought your kit and are not sure where to start we are going to show you how to.  Follow the directions from the enclosed card on how and where to activate the test.
Remember to register online first and enter the 15-digit activation code from the collection tube. This is the only way that Ancestry can identify your DNA sample. Remember to enter the activation code on to your instruction card for your records. Remember DO NOT eat, drink, smoke or chew gum for 30 mins before giving your saliva sample.
So now you are ready to post and while waiting for your results if you do not wish to put your whole tree online start a new tree and call it “Judith’s DNA Tree”.
If you are going to do this add in your maiden name as owner of tree, add your husband as this will give your married name and add your parents, grandparents and Gr grandparents and if you know them your Gt Gt Grand parents.

So now you have tested your DNA with Ancestry we want to help you locate your results:
1.    Sign into your account in Ancestry and choose your DNA tree.
2.    From any page on Ancestry, click the DNA tab
3.    If your test is still in process, you’ll see a bar displaying its current status.

You have received your results back and do not know what to do with them. It can be quite overwhelming when your results are returned. DNA does not lie, so be prepared for the unexpected. Watch the latest videos from the company you have tested with and take your time. There is no rush and we want to get it right.
Done: Your test is complete and your results should be posted on your computer. Now is the time to save your raw data to download folder in “My Documents “.
